One of the major objectives of the Saudi Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Society is to promote knowledge and scientific research in our field. Publishing a scientific journal is an essential means to achieve such a goal.
When the Society was established , it was thought to be appropriate at the time, to start by publishing a bulletin. 1 had the honour of editing the very first issue of the Bulletin of Saudi Oto- Rhino-Laryngology Society in June 1990.
Over the years, Professor Seraj Zakzouk and Professor Amin Seraj and myself as a deputy editor, have laid the foundation to move to the next phase and publish a full-fledged scientific journal. The previous president of the society professor Abdulaziz Ashour and the Board of Directors honoured me by appointing me to be the first Editor - in - Chief of this journal.
We immediately requested H.R.H. Prince Majid Bin Abdulaziz, Governor of The Makkah Region and the honorary president of our society to be our patron; he graciously accepted.
I am fortunate to have a very active editorial board supported by distinguished international advisory board from different parts of the world.
This is a referred scientific journal that welcomes articles for publication both from Saudi Arabia and abroad. Despite the fact that it is newly born, it will publish only the articles that meet the highest scientific and academic standards. For the present, this journal will be published every six months, but it is hoped that soon it will be more frequent.
